SLOPER TYRES
Hi everyone I'm now at about the stage where I need to get new tyres  for my sloper it's a 1930 OHV 500 model the manual says 20" x 2.25 size rims does anyone know what size tyre  this equates too . Also what type tyres  are you running  and what sizes are they .I need both front and back , looking forward to your reply regards Mark

Hi Mark, My 1929 BSA Catalogue  states that both front & rear rims are 19 ins x 2.5 ins. Tyre sizes in the catalogue are confusing and given as 26 ins x 3.25 ins wired on or 27 ins x 4 ins Balloon tyres. However, these are almost certainly the outside diameter of the tyres. My 1929 sloper has 350 x 19 Avon on the rear and 325 x 19 Avon on the front. I also have a 1932 G32/12 which uses the same tyres so I think 350 x 19 & 325 x 19 should fit your rims if they are the correct ones.
I am surprised that your manual states 20 inch rims.
Regards
Alan

 Hi Alan
Thank you for your reply I was confused and to be honest I don't know that much about tyre sizes I have measured my rims and diameter wise they are 20 1/4 inch  across but that is on the outside of the rims  would it be possible for you to measure the diameter of the outside of your rims to see if they are  anything similar to mine and if so then I'll know that the 19 x350 will fit regards Mark

My S29 has 19x3.25 Dunlop Gold Seal K70 front and rear.

 Hi Dean
Thank you for your reply following further investigations , a chat with another sloper owner and having measured his rims which were also just over 20 inches in diameter , he also runs 19 x 325 tyres  on his so with that information , yours and Alans replies I at least now know what size tyres to get . Now just need to decide which brand to go for regards Mark

Hi Mark, I confirm that the outside diameter of the rims is 20 ins. The tyres needed are 3.50 & 3.25 x 19 ins. The inside diameter of the tyres is 19 ins to fit inside the wheel rim. There are cheap tyres available but suggest you read reviews etc from the internet first. Regards Alan

 I Alan
Thank you for confirming the size of your wheels and tyres  I did check my manual and the picture does say it is 20" x 2.25 wide , I've started looking  at tyres which is a bit of a minefield and very limited in the sizes needed , Mitas and Anlas both offer cheap tyres  and the write-ups seem okay but I'm not really a great  believer in write-ups that are part of the advert .  So I may well end up getting a set of Avons which with fitting only ends up about £75 more than the cheaper ones  . Do you or anyone else reading this have any thoughts or recommendations regards Mark

BEVANC
