Hi,

Working on a 1955 BSA BM33 Plunger - returned from Burma in 1998.

The panels are straight, the paint is dry, I am ready to put the Burmese returnee back together. I am looking around for frame bolts and engine to frame bolts. I can see A7 Plunger bolts in the online shops... would these work?

Thanks
Hamish

Most of what you'll need can be found on Draganfly, I just bought of load myself.  Unfortunately it does take time to do the groundwork to trawl through parts lists, identify the correct part number as there can be differences between models and order the correct part.  I suppose the alternative would be to buy a load of metric threaded bar and nuts and just cut to length, that would save time lol.  All the best with the rebuild, Glenn.

This is a good link for all the engine and gearbox tie studs:

Frame fittings are here:

 :) :) :)

I usually buy the correct size round bar and thread it to suit. Then either a free nut on each end or if a bolt is required just braze a nut on. Incidently studding is available in most imperial sizes so at least you would have the correct nuts.

Thanks, I will look at both of these options... see which is the most affordable.

Trying to do this on a budget :) not easy!

The Draganfly site should give the stud length, once you click on the part number. Their prices are fair if you want plated steel. If you prefer stainless, DWR Fasteners sell 3/8" BSCY engineering studs (i.e. threaded at the ends only.) You may need to cut them down a little. D. Middleton Fasteners will also make up stainless studs to order in BSCY, 'though cost more...

I find Wassells do bags at good prices although you have to be trade to access the site.

I had a look at the DWR Fasteners site just now, and bookmarked it for later reference. thanks, Dr_Pinky.

Clay Jones at ACME Stainless do an online shop, I purchased all my stainless engine studs from him, most engine bolts are 3/8 cycle and he does various sizes.
