1968 Thunderbolt Forks

Can anyone enlighten me as to how to remove the fitting at the base of the shaft 68- 5144 it has a slot in the side of it which may require a special tool. I am completely at a loss so any help greatly appreciated. Regards Jim

Well eventually got them sorted, many parts seized which I took to be bolted and that circlip is a doozy. Regards Jim
