Hi All

New member here. I am picking up a 1948 C11 later in the week and it needs a bit / a lot of work ( EBay purchase so not sure yet ). This is my first go at bike restoration so brace your selves for a lot of stupid questions :). First one is is there any sort of Haynes type workshop manuals available for these bikes ? Will post pics and more info when I have got it here

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve.

There aint no such thing as a stupid question. The only stupid  one is the one you don't ask

The bible for BSA singles is Rupert Ratio.
This can still be found via e bay.

Rupert Ratio manual is for unit singles only.

Try the BSA service sheets. Often available on ebay. Get a parts book also. Pitmans Books of 250 BSA also helpful

I dont think Haynes did one.

Best of luck with your C11. I have been restoring/modernising my B25 for 3 years now and still not finished so don't expect overnight results. I would make sure that it is what seller says it is, check everything, especially engine/frame nos. Find out where these numbers are for this model/year as BSA had a habit of changing their locations over the years. Make sure it's all there especially tinware, if anything is missing you can bet your bottom dollar it's made of Unobtainium and is only available from Unobtainia.
I have found Draganfly (who incorporate parts book illustrations into their website) and Burton Bike Bits good for spares.  As for manuals, these can often be found on-line in repro/photocopy form , often complete with grubby finger marks. BTW I wouldn't trust a Haynes manual anyway! They always seem to gloss over the exact thing you need to know and anything electrical is considered to be witchcraft.
