A65 Partslist

Hi Ya - Can anyone advise if there is in existence a detailed list of bolts and washers for an a65. For instance I need a couple of fork station drain plug washers which rather than match from a multiple size container can source by understanding exact sizes etc. The parts are small and cheap but each time become hiked up with postage so this would be really useful especially as have a great motor factors within reach.

Short answer - No! However, there are only a limited number of bolt and stud sizes used (1/4, 5/16, 3/8, etc) and up to about 1969 most of the threads are BSC, the exception mostly being those coarser threads used to screw into aluminium castings which are either BSF or BSW. From about 1969 onwards, things became a bot more complicated with the introduction of UNF and UNC threads which could be found alongside BS threads early on. In addition to these larger thread size, smaller 2BA screws are used in places, the fork drain screws being an example.

Just finished my A65 restoration  and got 90% of my fasteners from South Essex Fasteners Ltd at Southend. 90% cheaper than BSA suppliers. I had to cut a couple of bolts down, no problem. They do UNF etc.
I just emailed my list to them and also got the sizes from Draganfly's parts list ( They are not all correct ). I just got four rocker studs with nuts and washers, about £2.    They will post or deliver FOC locally. Regards Colin

For things like fork drain plug washers just measure it - you should be able to match them cheaply on ebay for a small sum and have enough to last for years. The later A65 parts books do have some thread details but also remember that the fittings in some locations - fork pinch bolts head bolts etc - are high tensile steel.

The link above gives sizes, location, etc, for Triumph and BSA fasteners.
However, some are missing (usually old british threads) and a few are wrong as reported by Triumph owners.
But it is quite extensive.

Lebreud, The washers are 3/16"dia so the best option is a 5mm Dowty washer. You could use Fibre, copper or Aluminium, whichever is your preference.
