MICKREEVES

I took my C15 SS output sprocket down on more tooth, now 17 teeth.
The bike will now reach 80 MPH at around 6800 rpm.
I am pleased with this

You do like thrashing your old bikes don't you!!

I hope you can perform now as well as you did 50 years ago!

I'm certainly looking forward to having my fillings shaken out when it's finished.  Have I any chance of it being oil tight?

i can see your point but is it really any different to classic racing?

Many bikes more historically valuable are thrashed week in and week out, at least its a bike out getting used and not sitting in a shed.

My 2cents worth

I agree about classic racing. However a lot of those bikes raced have been prepared for racing - rarely are stock bikes used without some modifications. Also if racing, then you have to be prepared for the damage caused by racing. An old friend of mine destroyed a Manx Norton ( 1937 model ) gearbox while racing at Donnington Park some years ago and that bike was built for racing! My point is that for a stock old bike, isn't it better to look after it, ride it with a degree of sympathy and appreciate it for what it is?
If you need speed, go and buy a cheap Jap bike and thrash that to death.
