Hello

I am fitting a Wassell WW10221N electronic regulator (negative earth) to replace the old regulator on my 1948 M33. I have managed connecting to the wiring harnes ok, But I am struggling to undertand the instructions for changing the wiring within the dynamo. Please can anyone advise? I can post Wassell wiring instruction and dynamo pics if needed.

Thank you

Please post the wiring information :)

Hi, Thanks for your reply. Please see attached, its the Wassell wiring diagram that pzzles me.

At face value, your dynamo appears to be wired up as per the revised Wassell wiring diagram which I believe is how they are normally wired up. I assume your problem is that the first wiring diagram doesn't make sense?

I tested the dynamo as a motor and it ran ok. When I run the bike I dont think its charging, as the battery became fully discharged. Thats why I thought the dynamo would need rewiring as the Wassell iinstrutions suggested.

I have rebuilt the bike but never saw it running before. I am sure the dynamo is original to the the bike along with the old regulator (which is wrecked)

Thanks for your time

The photo shows the commutator looking very dirty  and the brushes worn.

Unless you have cleaned commutator and replaced brushes the dynamo will not give its best.

I would also check the field coil is not open circuit by measuring for finite resistance between the two wires emerging from the inside of the dynamo.

Is your dynamo polarity correct? Try flashing it.

Thanks for your advice. I will start with new brushes, then do tests.
