Hi
Anyone able to help, I'm looking at reconnecting the original lights, front and rear on my 1924 Roundtank. The lights are all correct as is the carbide cannister. M just missing the hose. I'm trying to find out of it had one hose from the cannister to front light and a second hose off the other end of the cannister connector to the rear light or if it had a T connector, and thus only one hose coming off the carbide cannister. The outlet on the cannister has a bulbous end one side and a screw thread and bulbous the other. Both ends are open as I can see through them. A photo I've seen on tinternet showed a small screw cap on the threaded end to close it off which suggests I need a T joint. Hopefully the photos I've taken have uploaded. And hopefully my ramblings make sense to someone, Thanks.

Thanks, any idea about the fitment on my cannister?

It looks like 1/4 BSP?? I suggest you ask them at Vintage Supplies.  Ron

Never use copper fittings with acetylene, it can form copper acetylide.
This is knock sensitive, so it could explode if hit.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm basically trying to find out if the connector in the photo on the top of the cannister is double sided or should have a cap on the threaded side? Which if that is the case I'd need a T section for two hoses from that and one from that to the cannister.

When the system was new / in use could you supply only the front or only the rear or was it always set for both lamps to be on together?  A tee would rely on setting each lamp. My understanding is this is a very low flow - low pressure system. I'm looking at a Lucas acetylene lamp but mine has its own canister so its a stand alone unit (on a spring mount)

I've only had the bike 6 months and I'm currently trying to recommission it. When I got the cannister open I found the original instructions inside so I'm not entirely sure if it's ever been used. Sadly the instructions don't tell me about the connections. There was only one hose on the bike which came from the rear light towards the cannister but wasn't attached at either end hence why I'm unsure if it needs two hoses or a T section.

Its had over a century of mods and tinkering so there's how it left the factory and what owners did subsequently to try to improve things. I'm not sure that is two connections, I think it may be one push on connection and the tread is for a needle adjuster that's missing.

Hi Andy,

Do you have whattsapp?   If so I could send you some photo's of the setup on my 1923 model L as it looks to be the same as yours.  Just send me your number in a message.
