Carb Ticklers

Hi Folks,
I picked up a '64 A-65 Rocket that came with a Wassell 9/30R carb on it.  It also has the side covers that wrap around the front of the carb.  The problem is, there is no way to get to the tickler when the side covers are on.  I considered getting a monobloc but the original mechanism to activate the tickler on those is non-existent.  How have others addressed this issue?  Any input about the Wassell carbs would be welcome, too.
Cheers

You can get the tickler lever for the monobloc from draganfly but the mounting bracket is hens teeth. I was very lucky to find one.

Thanks for the response.  I didn't see part you mentioned on Dragonfly, I'll look again.  The only picture I can find of the linkage is on page 7 of the BSA Instruction Manual, are you aware of any other pictures?  I may fabricate something on my own.

The tickler is a roll pin with a flare at the float end and pushed into a aluminium cap at the other end (with a spring in between) you could pull the cap and make an extended tickler - something a little more elaborate to be reachable. I would advise using a stronger spring as well if you do.

Sorry my mistake i was refereing to the earlier monobloc.

Thank you Allan.  My issue is the linkage that operates the tickler.  There is a hinge device secured by the tickler assembly that holds the lever over the tickler so that when the lever is depressed it pushes down on the tickler.  Apparently the hinge and the lever are not available.  I searched the parts manual from '62 to '66 without finding any reference to the linkage.  Also, the side covers meet in front of the carb without access to the lever when it is installed.  The picture in the BSA Instruction Manual uses a dotted line to infer there is a cut out for the lever in the left cover, however, my cover does not have a cut out.  Making a linkage and modifying the side cover appear to be the only alternative.  I'm wondering if other owners of a '64 A65 and similar models have had this issue and how they addressed it.  Your thoughts are appreciated.

Could you repurpose a trip reset or choke cable? I'm thinking it doesn't need to be connected to the carb or tickler, just press it when you press it and spring back so there's no pressure on the tickler when its not in use.

Your problem is yours is a 64 build with the A50 frame type with wrap round side panels. You should be running a monobloc carb.

Recently Andy Teiran featured one of these on the YouTube channel. He referred to the tickler and how tricky it was.  Perhaps worth searching out.

They are rare to find. I have just fitted one and they are a pain. I need to extend the bottom of the tickler pin as the bracket sits under the tickler nut and lifts it up.
