Hi Eddie,

Is it a 4 spring with the two thrust washers in the screw together centre as in the parts diagram and in Gup's photos?
This only has 5 plates. To get another, in affect, 2 plates in the lip on the hub has to be removed. So does the 7 plate kit fit in this 4 spring or is there another one that was fitted that had the 6 springs already?

If you want a lighter clutch the SRM Alloy pressure plate does this. It worked fine on my A10 but Ive not touched the A65 clutch yet.

Hi,

Yes. I have a similar set up that lifts the clutch pressure plate squarely and it does help with the setting up.  The springs that I have are about 2mm short due to use and I need replacements.  They are proving difficult to find.  Hence, I am toying with the idea of shortening some but dies this work and what is the best way to do it.

hi dave,
i m terrible at remembering details.
but fitted the ally end plate. result better but still dragged.
7 plate conversion gives more lift as friction plates are thinner and distance required to separate plates less.they renmove the drag.cost was about £100.
i bought an original bsa clutch cable as well thinking my drag problems were the result of a stiff cable  and was seriously thinking of ditching the 3 ball mech.

Hi,

An update on the clutch spring saga.
I eventually found the correct length springs at Fairdeals. They come as a kit with new cups.  They fit but I felt that the springs are only about the same strength as the ones I want to replace but I am keeping them in 'stock'
In the end I dug out some deeper cups and used the Triumph springs previously mentioned.  As I had the centre off the fettle the cush drive I replaced the clutch bolt with slightly longer ones to make it a bit easier to get the nuts started.
So it all back together for road test but not until a bit more recovery from a hernia op.
Watch this space.

Dave.
