Hello All.

Just a quick question. Is a relay rectifier the same as a Boyer Bansden power box, ie, does it and will it function the same? as there is two yellow leads to the alternatior and a red and black leads which are posative and negertive, just the same as a Boyer.

Many thanks in aadvance.

Do you mean a regulator rectifier? Never heard of a relay rectifier. If so, it depends where it's come from but most reg/recs work in a similar way.

Yes regulator relay, I got it from Goffy who said I needed this after buying a new stator, since I fitted it I have lost ignition, I have had the Boyer tested and that was okay, I then traced fault to ignition switch, which I have replaced with a new one, I have this on a 12v system, I believe that I have cocked up on the wiring somewhere, still trying to trace.

Best of luck trying to get any help or assistance from Goff... :-X

TTJOHN, would you post a picture of this Regulator Relay please. I'm unfamiliar with the term. Wanting to learn.

If you've bought a new stator , how many wires please ,come from it ? Probably 2 , these 2 wires join to the new reg rec box yellows.
Depending on what earth your bike is (pos or neg) then take the red or black from your new reg rec to earth, neg earth take black , pos earth take red.
The remaining wire charges the battery.
This reg rec purely charges the battery, it does nothing for ignition.
The ignition , if electronic is a separate box and powered by your new ignition switch.
If standard points then original wiring diagram will suffice

What voltage do you have at the battery whe attempting to start? If its below 12v at the boyer it wont trigger.

I am getting over the recomended 12v from the battery, the A reg is wired correctly, the Boyer Bransden is okay, I had that checked at Boyer workshop, bought new ignition switch as the old one showed signs of being faulty. Now really getting Pd off with it, so it can wait till I get another  chance to get at it.
Thank for all the advise.

HiJohn,

I would just recheck the ignition switch.  Even a new one could be faulty. Is there any power coming out of it?

Is the boyer receiving 12v when the ignition is on as previously mentioned.
The boyer box may be fine but what about the trigger coils , have you checked them/it.
Have you ever had it running
