Hello Neil,
https://www.feked.com/lucas-type-dip-switch-bakelight.html

This I have just original.
What I'm after is the metal strap which allows  installation to clutch lever console.

Ps: I have put all together my engine and started bike today. Looks promising.
Will update on progress...

Hello,
Some more news.
I did some short ride yesterday.
No issue with piston at all!
DVR2(P) works like charm! I have 12v battery and 6V dynamo. With RPM higher than 1500 rev/min I get 13v easily or 13.5V changing.

Now need to put on some miles on the clock and smile on my face.

Still waiting for small bits from UK hopefully they will leave my brother this Saturday.

The bike is far from perfect but at least mechanically in decent order.

I won't do any paint and finishing off work. I just love it how it is with dents and scratches.

Still too early to close the post.
I will try to make summary what was done on the bike.

Cheers
Dan

Hi Dan.

I think you should change your signature, as you have been very well informed on this forum!

Indeed Ian,
This is fair! All you kept me motivated.
Without this forum and my brother Artur i would give up long time ago.

Many thanks and big aplause.

I still need some adjustments. Staring cold is easy. Warm is not the case.
Compression Ok
Spark OK
Valves clearance OK
Timing - need to recheck

This is however small issue .

For now slow rides 35mph to wear it in.

Don't go too slowly as you will never run it in properly
Build your speed up and over 50-55 is fine but let it rev gently up to speed, certainly not slog in too high a gear and after a longish run at speed back off onto the over-run for a few seconds to draw the oil up and around.

Thanks Neil!
I will take your advise.

Problem with staring hot - solved.
Timing was off a bit too late.
And I retarded I too much with knob so it was not able too start.

Now it works.
Let's see how it goes...

Hello some parts arrived.
Is all beating 3/16 right for timing cover valve with spring 66-1684.
Asking because looks like till now this was not original and ball was bit bigger.

Hello,

Problem starting on Hot 🔥

Topic been on the forum couple of times.
No conclusion just some tips.

My BSA starts first kick on cold.
Starts first kick after run just after I stop and kick-start.

Leaving machine for some time like 5 minutes.
It won't start or staring only after 20 kicks.

I have checked for the timing settings all in line with serves manual. Same valve clearance. Compression on Hot engine is such you have to use decompressor.
Spark is bright same hot or cold.

Anything to do with carburator?

Possibly heat soak from the engine causing fuel in the carb to evaporate? Does the carb body feel hot when left for a few minutes? Do you have a tufnol insulator between the carb and head?

Many years ago I had a Norton 16H (500 side valve) which exhibited a similar problem. One day I was struggling with it when an older gent who was passing said "I used to ride them in the war (yes it was a long time ago) and we always found that flooding the carb would get it running". I tried that and it worked. The Norton had a clip type fitting for the carb rather than a flange so couldn't fit an insulator, which I have done to all my bikes ever since.

Or possibly heat soak from the engine affecting the magneto. I've had this problem in the past. The bike starts easily from cold and if it has just been stopped with a hot engine, but let it stand for a couple of minutes, like filling up petrol at a filling station, then it won't start, usually showing a weak spark. Sometimes having to wait up to 20 minutes until the magneto has cooled down enough! This probably due to the condenser in the mag being on its way out but I've had this on a "rebuilt" magneto.

Hello,
I have insulator about 3-4mm thick.
Carburator is warm but Magneto much hotter.

So I guess I need to make Brightspark condenser install it an see if that helps.

Installing the Brightspark condenser isn't so simple on an M01 magdyno. It requires dismantling the armature to remove the existing condenser. To do this the slip ring has to be removed to access the 2 long screws holding the armature together. You will need to pull the bearing inner from the shaft first.
You can find the complete procedure here.Condensectomy
It's not too difficult, the only problem I had was getting the bearing off the shaft but fortunately a friend had a suitable puller. Be careful with the slip ring, they are easily broken - I know from experience  :(

Thanks Derek!

I know the page. The specification is given there so it is easy to make DIY part.
I have no time to wait for postage and all needed parts (PBC board and capacitor) were shipped to me in the winter...I should have done it before putting magdyno into the bike.

No i have to go with the surgery on the armature.

Wish me luck.

Slip ring removal is one of my biggest fears together with the bearing sitting next to it.
