I'm rebuilding my C25, which I took apart nearly 45 years ago, and so I can't remember how things go back together. I now appreciate that the front forks are from a later bike, probably a B25 Starfire (with twin leading shoe brake). Looking at the parts book for the Starfire forks I can't make out how the top of the fork springs engage with the bottom of the fork bottom yoke (and I have dry fitted the parts together on a bench top). Where do the sealing washer and sealing retainers fit into this arrangement?

So my specific questions are does the top of the fork spring push directly against the bottom yoke? Does the sealing washer have two sealing retainers, one on top and one below? If I am right, does the "sealing retainer-sealing washer-sealing retainer" sandwich sit between the top of the spring and the bottom yoke? - It is difficult describing all this in words!

If you can offer assistance, thank you,
Kevin
PS If it helps I can copy the parts book and mark this up to try and explain this more clearly what questions I am asking.

My interpretation is that the sealing washer (47-5065) is sandwiched between 2 x sealing retainers (47-5064). You obviously need one between the sealing washer and the spring and I assume there is a good reason to have another between the sealing washer and the underneath of the lower yoke.

That said, it's difficult to see why you need to have these components to keep dust from getting into the springs - surely, that's what the gaiters are for?

Thanks for your response and thank you for confirming what I have been thinking. I think that I need something between the top of the spring and the bottom of the yoke but I'm not convinced it has to be a sealing washer sandwich,

Each sealing retainer is just a steel washer and you probably just need 1 of these and no sealing washer to protect the bottom of the alloy yoke from being damaged by the top of the spring.
