Hi,
According to the spare parts list, there is a different thickness of tank support rubber front and rear (24-8507 and 24-8514) and the studs are different lengths (24-5206 and 24-5207).
Does anyone know how thick the rubbers should be and whether they should be thicker in the front or rear?

Best regards
Robert

I don't think anyone will be able to provide you with the exact dimensions you require. I have re-built several pre-war BSA's and have made my own tank support rubbers from half inch thick cloth/rubber laminate, the type that is used on classic car exhaust system supports. You may have to use two thicknesses of the rubber to get an approximate of half an inch. Alternatively you could cut kick starter rubbers to the required thickness . Hope this helps.

Hi Robert
There're plenty of different sized rubber spacers on ebay. Even large tap washers are useful for just a few mms packing, or a slice from a rubber door stop for a thicker spacer. Work out what size you need by packing the tank to the correct height with card/wood strips to get the correct thickness before buying.

Thanks for the reply.
I was a bit confused when I saw that the stud should be different lengths according to the spare parts list and mine are 40 and 32 mm.
Which would indicate that the rubber should be different thickness front and rear
Not sure if those are the right studs

No big deal, I get to try what fits best.
