Thunder con rods in an A7

Has anyone fitted Thunder con rods into an A7? (swinging arm model)

I know if you fit Thunder con rods to an A10 you need to open up the "ports" in the barrel skirts in order to clear the slightly wider rods.

The question is, do I need to make the same modification in order to fit Thunder rods into an A7, which incidentally do not have "ports" in the skirt as standard.
