DAVE BRADY

Hi,

I would say that this is probably just about OK.  The angled lug on the brake plate obviously gets stronger as it gets thicker.  Perhaps do a 'weld up' if the forks need stripping down at any time.

Hi,
Personally I wouldn't take the risk.

Extend it, took me 1/2 day (I wrapped the tube with water soaked rags to ensure it didn't distort).

Best wishes...

Hi Guys, I read a bit about using the TLS brake on an A10 before fitting one to my Gold Flash. I used the late hub and brake plate to gain maximum benefit. I went down the route of having the brake plate slot lengthened/deepened by a local welder/fabricator to avoid any risk of distortion of the fork leg from the welding of the lug. Works fine and looks good. Also I had a recessed capped screw fitted to keep it nice and secure.

I have a small problem with the TLS brake previously discussed... I cannot decide on the preferred method of adjusting the linkage between the two fulcrums - the only mention I can find is the Haynes B44 etc manual which states all adjustments to the brakes are carried out at the brake lever and the length of the (adjustable) linkage should be left as standard as installed by the factory! I wonder how I can replicate the factory setting? Any assistance appreciated.
