Rear mudguard

Dear all,

   It is bugging me that the tail light on my C15 is pointing a little to the left. I checked where the mudguard bolts to the frame and it looks to be central there.  Also the light looks to be centrally mounted on the mudguard, and yet it points to the left!! (by about 1/2 an inch but now it seems really obvious)

  Any ideas as to the reason or the solution?  The mudguard may be a recent pattern part.  The bike had been recently painted, prior to me buying it, and is otherwise looking very smart.   It would be a pity to have to butcher it to put this right.
