Whilst restoring my 1953 A7 Plunger I thought it a good idea to replace the very leaky Amal 276 with an Amal monobloc. I'm not much of a purist.  If I had better powers of observation I might have realised that space is very tight behind the manifold but it didn't occur to me at the time. When the new carb arrived I fitted it easily and then tried to put the air filter and battery holder back on but the monobloc float chamber is in the way; it just won't fit. To make it fit would require lumps taken out of the air filter case and or chain guard which doesn't seem a very attractive option.
So the only options I can think of are to fit a concentric which solves the float chamber problem but doesn't look right, or buy a new 276. Anybody have the same problem and if so, what did you do? I've tried to reclaim the original 276 but it's in very poor condition.

It's a pity they didn't make a right-handed Monobloc with the float chamber on the other side - that, presumably, would have fitted?

Good thinking but I suspect a right handed version might need chunks taken out of the oil tank. I've decided that a 276 is the right answer. Unfortunately they're nearly twice the price of a monobloc.
