 :) :) :) :)

I have just seen a remote contact assembly advertised.

What is it and how does it work.

Just for my interest.

I've never heard of it but I'm intrigued; can you post some details/a photo of the advert.
Thanks
Martin

thanks Mike

if I were going to pay that, then I would probably go electronic ignition.
the A10 and A50 both have electronic, the T100 and B40 are points. T100 just finished and the B40 in progress. might just have to rethink the wiring.

Hi,

What was supposed to be the advantage of this?  You still had points.  I had/have some thing like this and thought it was for a Norton as it came and possibly went with some Norton bits.  I will have to have a look to see if I still have it.

Dave.

as Les Mason set up Devimead then sold to SRM, presumably due to the play in the normal advance and retard system there was too much bounce when racing. he must have worked out that race bikes didnt need the A/R system so, a fixed cam was made up.
I can only make the assumption as the B40 flat tracker Im working on also had the bob weights brazed in position as it didnt need to A or R during a race as at full revs most of the time.
Devimead being a race orientated side of the bikes.
presumably, also the cam in the A/R unit wears and there is play in the centre fixing, so this would stop.

just my guess

Thanks. Doesn't that make for the tiniest bit of starting difficulty.

Mike
yet to find out.
the original carb was missing , only rusted cable and slide, no decompressor or parts, the rear drum is the deeper cast sprocket one with a larger sprocket around the outside. my guess it was bump started ala speedway, bearing in mind it was a flat tracker. wouldnt be surprised if it were run on Castrol R and methanol, apart from the fact there wasnt any lacquer from R in the cases.
