Cant fit oil pressure gauge on M20s B31/33s, C15/B40/B44 and may others using ball/roller big ends as it will read less than 5Lb cold and zero when hot!

Hi,
The best way to check the pump is to run the engine for 5 mins, wait 10 minutes then remove the sump plate, if its full of oil the return section of the pump is worn, (up to 1/4 pint is normal), whilst the sump plate is off check the feed section of the pump by:

Place a measuring jug underneath the sump, run the engine at 1000rpm for 1 minute you should get just under 1/4 pint.
Run again for 1 minute at 3000rpm and you should get just over 1/2 pint.

Remember you wont get oil to the rockers whilst you're doing this so make sure they are lubed well before starting each test by putting your finger over the return jet in the oil tank for awhile. Keep the oil tank topped up.

Best wishes...
