I can't reply with any authority Steve but, as it's the way BSA, Triumph and Norton went, I'd assume it was a good thing...

Hi Steve,

If you put this 'oil filter in return to tank' in the Forum search box you will some previous discussions about filters.  I have had them on 3 bikes for many thousands of miles.

The addition of a filter is a very sound idea.

One of the main problems with doing so is finding the space somewhere on the bike to fit one.

 :) :) :)

Bess designed a good fitment a couple of years ago which I have fitted to a couple of unit A's. It was published in THE STAR at the time and I believe on here somewhere. I'm sure if we ask nicely, he would be happy to publish it agen. Pretty please!!!!!

I too have used them for years and will always fit one during a rebuild. As Julian says, finding a suitable space can be awkward but well worth it.

Ihave used external oi; filters for over 20 years now without any problems here are 2 photos of external oil filters as fitted to my presnt bikes the A7 filter has ben fitted for about 6 years and the A65 for about 10 years. the A7 is fitted in the tool box and the A65 under the bike above the center stand.
