C15 B40 exhaust

Hi
Does anybody know whether a C15 low level exhaust pipe 40-2835 is the same as fitted to a 1963 B40 41-2702 which I think is the same as 42-2718?

I did a full rebuild on B40 and had trouble getting the correct exhaust pipe. most suppliers will tell you the 2702 is superceded and then they will send the C15 one. It does not fit. The down section of the pipe is about 15mm longer on the B40 and if made with a fixed bracket will not line up with the engine bolt and will foul the footrest. I finally got one from and outfit which I recorded as "classicbritishmotorcycles.co.uk" but I can't find them on line now. Even Draganfly couldn't help, which is unusual - I did send them my old B40 pipe as a pattern so it may be worth trying them as it was about 4 years ago I was looking

I've used Classic British Bikes in Redditch. They are a good outfit!
I bought a B40 silencer from them which was fine. The only problem was that it was bloody noisy! I cant remember my C15 being as noisy as that in the 70's!

I got a silencer 40-2760 from Classic bike shop which fits great, and yes it is a lot noisier as it has a perforated tube inside instead of baffles. I got the pipe 40-2702 from Hawshaw motorcycles, which fits fine except that its a couple of inches shorter than the original. This has put the silencer attachment point further forward and therefore a new bracket had to be made. It looks great but the down side is that there's less clearance between the silencer and rear footrest, and bracket and tyre. I'll see how it goes and if necessary it would be easy to fit a coupler between pipe and silencer in order to push things back.
