Clutch chainwheel play

Hello, everyone. A couple of weeks ago I put my clutch back together (1965 B40F) after having removed it in search of the source an oil leak. I have just gone back to the bike, thinking the next job was to refit the primary chaincase cover. But I noticed that I have some play in the chainwheel. Grabbing it across its outside diameter, ie the casting next to the chain, I can move it, say, half a millimetre or more, in and out. I can also wobble it. Should it be like that? If not, any ideas what I've done wrong? (I don't know if it was like that before I took it apart.)  Phil.

Further to my previous post, actually, looking again, it's a bit more than that - I guess there might be 1/8" wobble.  Is that normal? Any advice/information would be much appreciated.   Phil.

When I rebuilt my C15 I was concerned with the same clutch basket wobble.
2 years on and no problem.
I did spend some time removing burrs from the plates.
Also replaced the clutch rollers (very cheap)
to make sure the clutch was free and smooth.
Also you probably know to make sure springs are adjusted to give even rotation of plates
Hope this helps

Thanks, Tim. I've put it back together and taken it down the road and back and it seems to be working okay. You telling me yours has been fine for two years is very reassuring.  Phil.
