Can anyone suggest a reason(s) why a 1960 bike would be recorded as first being registered in 1981. The bike appears to have an age related reg so I'm a little confused. Thanks in advance!

is it not the case that if the v5 was lost and bike had to be registered again is the date applied for replacement document used?

I have seen this before on A10 from 1960 that showed date of manufacture as 1984 but had original 1960 reg number.

I dont think its anything to get too concerned about as long as information matches frame and engine.

is the registration original?  Sometimes new registrations were issued when all the old details were lost.  The Kithead Trust were very helpful when I needed to get to the bottom of my registration vs V5 date.  It may be worth dropping them an email.  http://kitheadtrust.org.uk/

My B31 is 1955 according to the frame No, however it is on a G plate 1968

If it is an age related plate then the date that the bike was registered with that plate is the date of registration on the v5 . The date of manufacture is in a different column and should be the year the frame was made . My newly finished DB34 gold star has a 1955 age related plate but a date of registration is 2018 on the v5 because that's when it was registered with that plate .
