Standard A65 conversion to Clubman help

I am converting my 1965 Lightning to a Clubman rep. Problem is that I cannot get the swoop top yoke to fit the existing set up as the stanchions do not marry up. The old top yoke of course was flat so no problem. Is there a way round this like maybe cutting the chromed fork shroud down at the top?
