Hello all
My daughter rides a Vespa and came off last night in the middle of Romney marsh at 6pm miles from civilisation. The RAC took 6hours!! To send a truck out to recover her. (I'm abroad at the moment) She gets RAC included through her insurance.
Does anyone have any better ideas on bike specific recovery companies?
Thanks in Advance
H

That's terrible. I think the recovery companies are all pretty much the same, the only help i can give you is that i worked for SOS Motorcycle Recovery for a while and were contracted out to all the big players and women always had priority when broken down. While SOS don't offer there own service, or didn't when i was there, they might be able to point you in the right direction of a company that does prioritize women.

I've been with Britannia for several years now. I've used them several times for both bikes and cars and always had excellent service. They don't have their own recovery vehicles but have local contracts. When I've used them for bikes they (almost) always arrive with a properly kitted out van and knowledgeable driver - one of whom actually diagnosed my problem.

Full UK / EU cover for any member of the household in any vehicle is around £150 (I get a discount as a Trade Union member).

I'd never touch AA or RAC having had bad experiences in the past. And I speak as a former AA patrol.

As a former AA patrol also, I second that!

I'm also with Britannia; they are pretty good. I explain it's a bike, it's not a roadside repair, and out they come in about 90 mins to at worse 2 hours. I had a bad experience with the AA years ago so will not use them again, and I've heard bad things about the RAC.

The trouble is that both AA and RAC are now owned by private equity firms so all they're interested in is profit.

The RAC were happy to suggest I leave my dead RE by the side of a busy urban dual carriageway at 6pm one cold Saturday night and take a taxi home, as "no-one was available to collect until after 1am tomorrow morning".
Off was the second word of my response.
Dreadful company.

Thank you all. I'll investigate Britannia on her behalf. I honestly could not believe the service. Ok if it's a bloke perhaps but a single young woman in the middle
Of nowhere! It seems the RAC are by far the worst if heresay is anything to go by.

That is disgraceful as they should (must?) prioritise lone females.  If that's their idea of "prioritise" what is "routine"?  I too have settled on Britannia after leaving both the RAC and AA. The AA had ridiculous waits, the RAC were pretty good but got far too expensive.  I've called Britannia out a few times and they have been good.
