B31 Magneto backlash

It has been a while since I have had magdyno bike.
I am sure on a previous one there were adjustable studs on the base to set backlash.
It is a 1953 bike.
Mine has no studs and looks it never has or not for many years.

By 1953 were no longer used?

My B33 magdyno was along way off centre , my slots didnt look worn , so I added a tiny amount of weld to the pegs (tig) to allow me to file to suit , it worked out fine . And was alot less than I thought (weld) to correct .  My magdyno base had some wear at the points end  so i added a approx .004" shim across that end  which decreased the backlash .Cheers
