Hi, I saw a rear rack replacing the pillion in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vq2fk6yBdc. Does anyone make a replica? This would be really useful to me!
Thanks

This seems to be a rack from the 70s or 80s that has been modified then powder coated. The tubing below the load carrying part of the rack has been replaced by some steel strip. Original racks are few and far between; I've tried and failed to find a rack of this type for my "modern" 1981 Yamaha, to replace a bent old one. Just yesterday I was cutting and grinding metal to repair the old rack.

Here's the Yamaha fitted with the old rack; though somewhat modified and hidden behind the panniers you should get the idea. It is mounted on the top shock mounts and on brackets bolted to the rear of the bike frame. If I could have found a photo of an original type rack anywhere online I would have linked to it.

Sorry, don't know where you can get a rack but I have one as in the picture below that I could take pictures and measurements of if that would help at all.

cheers

Hi Pete, That looks perfect to me. Is yours a B31 also? Much appreciate any photos and dimensions. You don't have any pillion footrests at all; are there still lugs on your frame and are they used for anything? I can see the silencer hangs off something.

many thanks, kind regards.

Hi

Mine is a B33 tele rigid 1948. No pillion rests or lugs and the picture below should show how the silencer is attached

Rack: measurements sort of accurate and taken fron the centre line of the tubing.

it was a bit cramped in the garage and, of course, it was the one in the back corner!  ::)

Thanks so much, looks like it has seen some use too. Lovely collection too. Regards
