As some of you will remember I am in the process of finishing my SS80.
Fuel has been in the tank some time now and petrol leaking from the tap only at the moment when
Tap is off.
I am guessing that the unused brass tap which came with the parts is not ethanol resistant ?
Can anyone confirm the thread sizes.
Thanks

You could replace the tap with a Bap tap. They are leak free and easy to use and don't look too out of place

If your tap is plunger type with cork seal you can replace the plunger and cork for a new one though from my experience they will start to seep after a while, I dont think cork and ethanol are entirely compatible. Some will suggest you can boil or soak the cork to restore its seal but I am not convinced that either is a long term cure.

I changed to lever types on my A10, an English made one on one side which still seeps a bit and a cheap Wassell one on the other side, made in the far east, which has proved leak free over the past 12 months.

I guess tank thread is BSP ANY IDEA WHAT SIZE.

#4
Usually 3/8 x 19 tpi BSP.

Some replacement taps are 1/4 x 19 tpi BSP but there are adaptors available for tank to tap in that case. Had to use such on my A10 when I abandoned the original taps.

TIGERJ

3/8 BSP is correct for my tank.
Got an adapter as you said.
Also purchased BAP type tap (no idea what BAP means)
Hopefully soon road ready
Thanks
