Hi. I wonder if someone could help me out with a question that I am currently unable to answer as I'm stranded away from the bike. I'm looking to have a Lucas E3M dynamo overhauled whilst I'm away, so its ready to swop when I'm able to get back to the bike.
So, what is the direction of rotation for the dynamos on these bikes?
Thanks in anticipation.

There is normally an arrow on the casing which shows the direction of rotatio

Hi Pete,
Yes, I realise that but as I'm away from my bike, I wanted to confirm that the replacement that I buy and have overhauled is the correct one.
It would be really helpful and appreciated is someone could send a photo showing the details stamped on the case of a correct dynamo.
Thanks. Pete

Sorry I don't have any photographs of the appropriate dynamo but can't you just work it out from the direction of rotation of the crankshaft and the number of gears in the gear train to the dynamo?

Clockwise viewed from drive end. The drive is crank, exhaust cam, intermediate gear, magneto, dynamo.

Hi. Thanks, that's just what I needed to know.
