B26 Frame number location

 have recently bought a B26 the frame of which appears to have been painted using a combination
of a tar brush and thick black gook. Can anyone out there please tell me where to locate the frame
number?

You will probably find it on the forging around the steering head or failing that on the forging at the other end of the frame top tube near the seat pivot. Very unlikely to be stamped on any of the plain tubing.
