LNR stampted on case

Two bikes in my orbit have LNR stamped on the case.  One is a 1956 Gold Star, the other is a 1952 Vincent Rapide.  Both seemed to have been first sold by a dealer in the San Francisco Bay area -- though it is hard to imagine a dealer stamping the case instead of using a decal or placard of some sort.  Does anyone have a notion what the LNR signifies?
