Oil seals for Crank & G/box

G'day

This is my first post. I have a fully restored 850 Commando and I have just acquired a BSA A10. I received the BSA in a number of boxes: 3 frames, 3 oil tanks, 3 tool boxes, 3 petrol tanks. 3 wheels. gearbox+ and sundry items. The engine, stamped A10, was stripped and with a cast iron head and an alloy head. The engine had been worked on - bored, new pistons, valves ground and new crank bush.

I live in Australia and parts suppliers a few and far between. I want to complete the engine bottom end rebuild and gearbox rebuild.

Question: Can anyone tell me the dimensions of the crank main seal and gearbox out put shaft seal. I will try the local bearing shop if I have the dimensions.

your help would be greatly appreciated.

Below from an old Payens seal catalogue giving their part numbers and dimensions.

If your engine is a swinging arm model you need the 1954 on crank seal.

The gearbox seal is an unusual top hat form and may be unique to BSA.

Thank you for the info. never heard of this dealer - then again I have not been chasing parts since moving to brisbane (from darwin) as the Norton is complete and I have been riding modern bikes.

I could not see an address - are they internet only?

There is an address, in Bannockburn, shown under "contact us" but dont know if they have a retail counter.

They frequently come up on another forum, with new old stock parts.
