Tank Chrome Trim.

I have a four gallon Bread Bin tank, just got two new trims for the front and back of the centre of the tank. Under the tank is two slots which the flat ends of the trim slot into front and back. Do I then cut the centre ends of the trim to fit under the chrome Beading Holder. Is it that simple or am I ? Be gentle please.

I did experiment a bit. The centre round trim seems to accept the chrome trim via two slots, then the thick rubber should hold them in centre that will pin them down permanently. Thanks for reply.
