Can anyone suggest a source for the ewart type 42 8075 fuel taps as fitted to hornets etc? They seem to have dissappeared completely! Obviously an english made item is preferred.
While on the subject is it recommended to use ptf tape on threads on adapters etc or any other sealer?
Any advice gratefully recieved. Thanks,
Dave.

e-bay is your best bet or autojumbles.  Search under "BSA petrol tap" of just petrol tap.  I need one but a few weeks ago there was a job lot of 10! Do you have the banjos?
I use an O ring inside a washer to make a seal on the flange. Obviously you need to try a few washers to get the tap facing the right way.  Alternatively a fibre washer.  Its not a thread seal as its a parallel thread.

Thanks limeybob yes got banjos. Made mistake of falling for repos and one fractured at small thread end! It looks as if another small traditional manufacturer goes by the wayside! Cant find em anywhere now.thanks again.

I can't help you with taps (I use brass taper ones on the Gold Stars) but I highly recommend using Dowty washers of correct diameter as you can crank them up tight but the inner rubber ring seals nicely.
I have used modern lever taps (BAP) that work well and are ethanol reaistant these came with copper/rubber crush washers and a thin lock nut but you cannot reuse the washers once deployed. The plus side is you can adjust the tap position optimally before locking it, and the washer in place.
