Can anyone help - I've got a 1970 B175 and the air filter element has seen better days, no one seems to supply these filters anymore, has anyone found a pancake type filter with the same width that can replace the triangular filter or come up with any alternative? Mine is approx 40mm wide  - but that is approx as the filter has distorted slightly. Last question, there are 3 x hooks on the air filter backplate, were they to attach rubber straps to - to hold the filter in place, or did the original filter fit over these hooks. Thanks

The hooks were used to fit rubber band straps that held the filter in place.
I visited a nearby filter manufacturer(they made filtration for aircon units) and dug some offcuts out of their dustbin.
Quite coarse foam sheets that I trimmed and glued together to give me the triangular shape.
Been in there years
I cut rubber bands from inner tube

I seem to remember I used an original Mini air filter. Make or find a circular dished plate for the outside and use rubber bands (camping equipment?) to hold in place. I think I had to bend or remove a bracket on the backplate that prevented the filter sitting flat on the plate.
I'm not a complete idiot ............................................ some parts are missing
