Bearing circlip on crinkle hub

I'm replacing the driving flange on my 1969 B'Zuki hybrid. The rear brake plate was seized onto the dummy spindle and the only way I could remove it was by removing the bearing circlip and driving the dummy spindle through the backplate and bearing after removing said circlip.

But I'm now having the devil of a job getting the circlip reinstalled. Any handy tips?

Having said all that I now realise I didn't need to take the circlip off as the dummy spindle went through the bearing inner race so the bearing stayed in place. Making work for myself!

Clean circlip, clean groove, bearing housing clean so that bearing sits fully into the drum housing.
Presume you have circlip pliers?
What is not quite happening?
Is it the correct width bearing?

Hi,

As above.  You may have moved the bearing slightly when driving out the spindle. Even a few thou can prevent the clip from going in to its slot.

I've finally mamaged it - I agree the bearing might not have been quite home. I've just been to C&D as I thought my circlip was the wrong one - all the ones shown on Draganfly etc have circlip ears whereas mine just has a relieved area at one end to allow a screwdriver in. C&D had ones with ears but they were bigger diameter and one of the lads said he thought it was for A65/A50. We did have a discussion about part numbers and production control at Armoury Road..... I did try it but no way was it going in. After a bit of a tussle and making sure the bearing was fully home I did manage it. At least it's easier than the horrible circlips on the forks of my C11 which nearly drove me demented.

Anyway, all back together with loctite and tab washers done up, corrosion on backplate cleaned up and looking good. At least the circumferential play - which was why I was changing the driving flange - has gone. The crinkle hub wheel is indeed quickly detachable - I only wish it was as quickly installed. I think I'm getting weaker....
