Conrods on a 65 lightning

Can somebody tell me please what side of the engine does the com rod go the one with the hole in is it on the drive side or is it on the time side also does it matter if not fitted on the right side of the crank

Hi,

The rod with the hole goes on the drive side and the hole faces towards the flywheel.  It will matter if on the wrong side as it will affect the oil and pressure reaching the drive side journal by allowing some oil and pressure to escape.  Also the amount of oil being splashed up the left hand cylinder will be reduced and may even put too much oil up the righthand cylinder.
