B40 WD low level exhaust

I recently acquired a 1967 B40 WD with a high level exhaust. The trials silencer is damaged but a standard silencer came with it. In my ignorance I ordered a standard B40 low exhaust which didn't fit. After much burrowing on the internet I discovered that the frame is different on the WD. I ordered a more expensive Armours exhaust specifically listed for B40 WD. This doesn't fit! It has the kink to avoid the frame but it touches the engine case and frame rail so the mounting bracket is nowhere near the frame bolt. And worse, the exhaust port end only inserts a quarter of an inch into the head. If it is pushed in more then the bracket doesn't line up.
Anyway, my question is: Where do other WD owners get their exaust pipes from? In the short term I might find someone to weld up the trials silencer.

My -67 B40WD also came with a high level exhaust. Don't annoy me. Though I had to make a fitting bracket to get the pipe going fully into the head. The B40 WD frame looks similar to my -70 B44VS. So it might be that a Shooting Star exhaust might fit. Just a random guess.

Thanks for the reply.
I believe the frames are same/similar to late 60's B25/B44/B50 but the barrel will be taller/shorter so exhausts from these would be unlikely to fit.
I had a read of people's experiences with pattern exhausts, particularly Armours. The gist being that sometimes they will fit with some adjustments. I was in a bit grumpy when I originally posted :-[. I've just had another go and it seems that the pipe will fit, but .... the bracket is way out and will need either removal and rewelding or some radical bending.
As this was the only WD pipe advertised in the UK I shall keep it and make it fit.

At least one difference between B40WD and B44VS frames. Rear loop is sturdier on the WD. Probably because it had to cope with two men and some luggage.

Hi all, if of any interest to anyone I have two old stock original BSA exhaust downpipes for WDB40, so they will fit! One is dull chrome, one is bright chrome (as used on RAF bikes). A bit shop soiled but both should clean up nice.
PM me if interested.

Thanks Rupert.
A used pipe would have been ideal and matched the current state of the bike - I should have come to this site first (my membership has just been confirmed!)
The bike could be described as scruffy. The previous owner had had a carburetttor fire that destroyed wiring and oil lines. The bike was dropped, perhaps while escaping.
One of my brothers bought it and has generously given it to me as I am/was bike-less.
I want to get it back on the road as soon as possible and ride it, rain or shine.
A used pipe would be ideal as I'm not 'restoring' anything to new unless it's broken or missing - just getting everything safe, clean and functional.

Any standard foot rests out there I'd be very interested as I'm about to try and order some ... perhaps there a place on this site for that.

I raised a return request to Armours but they haven't responded.

Phil, a browse on the forum should give an idea of suppliers standards, say no more,, nudge nudge, wink wink.
