Another Starfire Problem

After solving previous problems I thought all was OK. Went for arun yesterday did about 20 miles but during the last few miles it developed a noise which was only happening when the bike was moving, so when I got home I could hear something catching when pushing the bike into the garage. Thought chain catching the chainguard but on looking closer I noticed bolts missing from the rear sprocket as it turned out there were only 3 of the 10 bolts still in place, they were all there when I bought the bike just over a month ago so the previous owner who had the wheels rebuilt did not tighten the bolts up correctly. Decided to buy new set of bolts therein lies the problem because they are listed as special bolts they have 7/16" heads rather than the normal 1/2" heads to but a set of bolts from Draganfly is going to cost approx £45 £4.10 each plus postage. the cheapest I can find on ebay is approx £38 this for 10 bolts 5/16" UNF approx 1/2" long. I can get the same size bolts but with the normal 1/2" heads high tensile for less than £3.50 including delivery on ebay. I was thinking because of the restricted space for the heads I could use Allen bolts instead I can gat 10 high tensile bolts the correct size for just over £3.00. Is there any reason why this would not work, I am not bothered about originality as the ones on offer at Draganfly etc. are not chrome plated like the originals.

I fitted standard high tensile 5/16" UNF setscrews (ground to correct length of 13/32") to my B44 which are black finish. I don't have any issue with the heads catching the brake plate. Also the original 68-6095's would most probably have been Cadmium plated not chrome.

Thanks for that info have ordered some 5/16" unf bolts high tensile 1/2" long will see if they will fit OK, the bolts that were fitted were chrome plated not cadmium plated. I will have to take the wheel off to fit standard head UNF bolts as have tried to fit a 5/16" unf bolt with standard head and brake plate get's in the way.
