B25 reserve tank

Forgive my ignorance, I'm new to the classic world but is the left hand petrol tap on my B25 Firestar the reserve for the fuel tank?

From what I understand, yes. I've read it's so you don't have to take your hand off the throttle when opening the left-hand petcock.
