C15S SCAMBLER VALVE LIFTER

My C15S SCRAMBLER came with a valve lifter but not fitted.
The service sheets and manuals are a bit vague regarding how to fit one, is there a best way for fitting or is it just looking and using common sense ?
I presume the flat points down and the rounded cam part lifts the valve ?

If memory serves me, the flat points upwards towards the underneath of the exhaust rocker. As you rotate the lifter, the angled flat then pushes the rear end of the rocker upwards which in turn pushes the front end of the rocket down to open the exhaust valve.
