Morning everyone, Just curious really: when you use the tickler to flood a carburettor (Concentric in my case) you see the fuel ooze out. It seems to just ooze out of joints. Is there a particular part of the carb designed to allow the fuel to escape?   Phil

Hi,

The fuel should come up past the tickler only and not out of the bowl joint.  Some older carbs actually had a hole in the tickler for the fuel to come through.

Dave.

Okay thanks very much Dave. Mine was oozing out of the banjo joint a bit - I'll fit a new fibre washer.  Phil

worn ticklers let the fuel up , by passint the small hole,, replacement ticklers are available.
many a finger of a glove got wet from fuel passing the tickler but as Dave says, none should come out of any other joints

I always get a wet finger when tickling the old girl!

Dave.

Do you have a fibre washer on the inlet banjo?
You shouldn't have. It will raise the float valve too high.
Just a top hat filer under the banjo.

Phil C

Crikey. Didn't know that. How will it do that? Displacement I guess?

It will raise the float needle seat by the thickness of the washer, so the fuel will raise by the same amount. Then the fuel mixture will be to rich.

DAVE BRADY

Hi,

If it is a concentric as Phil says, I believe that the float needle sits against a small insert rather than against the top of the banjo bolt.  However, the problem as reported seems to be lack of fuel in the pilot/primary circuit rather than richness.
From what Phil has said, the bike was running so I would suggest re-fitting the now very clean carb and see what happens.

Dave.

Yes, as Dave says, the float needle doesn't seat on the banjo bolt.  Phil

Apologies.  I was thinking of the monoblock.
