Is this a proper BSA side stand ?      It fits perfectly but it's not like any BSA sidestand that I remember.

My early A50 is that shaped without the ball on the end. It is also painted black. The bike does lean a bit when using the side stand.

No, sadly its not a BSA one. The original had no ball on the end and it leans over too far.
Whatever its off would have had the mounting boss at a steeper angle on the frame.

That's what I suspected, but it works so it will do for the moment.

Hi seems I would like one of these as my BSA A10 plunger, with original side stand  stands too upright for me,and could easily be knocked over !

On another note, the main stand could do with a slightly longer extension to make it easier to raise it, I have seen on YouTube a guy putting a gold wing on a centre stand with ease and also with a passenger in the seat at the time to demonstrate how easy it is

Seems to me I might modify my centre stand and side stand to make it more effective, any one else have issues with stands on vintage bike compared to modern bikes ? I know its in the technique IE both centre stand feet on the ground and then push down with the right leg, with out pulling on the grab bar on the bike and pulling it up and backwards too much, but it seems modern bikes have mastered it better, I suspect  gold wing will weigh at least 50 % more than a BSA A 10, any body done any mods I can copy ?
