Title: B25s B40 C15
Post by: sidewaysid on 03 Oct, 2020, 12:00
Hi Guys
Can someone tell me what will interchange with what, are the engine internals on a B40 the same as a B25, and do any C15 parts interchange between, for instance, if I have B25 crankcases can I put a B40 crank into them and what about gears, as you can see I am green behind the Gills on this.

Hi Sid,

I am sure that someone will give you some answers soon but as the engines changed quite a lot over the years there may be some interchangeability but perhaps not a lot
If you are a BSAOC member there are a couple of unit single experts who can be consulted through the details in the back of The Star.

Dave.

The B25 crankshaft is end fed and supported on ball and roller or ball and ball bearings depending on year.

Pre B40G and B40 WD models had ball bearing drive side and plain bearing timing side and oil fed via the plain bearing to the big end.

It is worth reading the Rupert Ratio unit singles books, a lot of gearbox and other information.
