Title: 1953 Super Flash
Post by: Goldstarman on 03 Oct, 2020, 04:06
This is the bike I like to ride. It was restored to nearly factory spec with the exception of the carb and cam. I installed a 357 cam and 932 concentric carb. It starts every time and is a pleasure to ride.

Hi,

Great looking bike.  I do like the lines of the plunger frame especially with the smaller tank.
A couple of questions if you don't mind.
Where did you get the front mudguard and is it chrome or stainless steel?
Have you managed to fit an air filter?  My wife's '51 Flash runs a 928 concentric and the inlet is very close to the oil tank and frame.  I know the Super Flash frame is kinked to accommodate the bigger carb but is the oil tank spaced out a bit?

Dave.

Just found a really good restoration slideshow from Parker Performance and I can see that there are quite a few differences.

The front mudguard is original to the bike when I purchased it. However it is the same mudguard and braces used on the 1954 Road Rocket. It is chromed steel. I do not use a filter on the carb. I am not sure regarding the oil tank as the SF uses a completely different type. Lloyd L
