Is it possible to fit a Bsa a65 engine in to a triumph oil in frame
Any advice welcome...Ronnierockets...
Im sure it would fit if you're willing to do the work changing the mounts.
Tribsas were common back in the day, even TriCot the 500 triumph engine in a Cotton scrambler frame.
all down to lining up the final drive and making engine plates (Dural was common in the day) to suit.
NorBsa, MaBsa etc. you fitted what you could find to keep you moving, my eldest recently put Honda CR500 2 stroke engines in KTM and Honda four stroke frames, best power and best handling options covered. Thge A65 engines Ive even seen in scrambles sidecar units.
pens and cardbousr templates is the way to go.
At the International last year there was a BSA plunger fitted with an A65 unit. Any thing is possible.
Hi,
There was also an A65 engine in a rigid frame with girder forks.

Plunger frame with a A65 engine
It is surprising or maybe not, that these bikes look right. Not wanting to take anything away from painstaking restorations I find these more interesting. A true statement of individuality and ingenuity in the practical use of disparate components to make a coherent whole.

Hi Dave,
I agree with you, those are worth a second look.
I feel the original A65 is the only BSA that looks wrong and is very difficult to modify to look interesting.
Best wishes...
Hi all, many thanks for all your replys
The reason I ask this question ,is that at the time of posting I was promised a triumph oif and fittings ,minus the engine and petrol tank , and rear wheel and fittings.
I have since sourced a Bsa conical rear wheel,
And I have an almost complete a65 engine and hence my reason for asking, last weekend I received
The frame and compared it with a Bsa oif my friend has , so I think it s doable with a bit of work.
The most noticeable problem is the bottom centre mount ,this is in a different position to accept the Bsa engine,
But not impossible to do.
Many thanks for all your replys..Ronnierockets...
Hi Ronnierockets,
Have you checked the if the final drive sprockets line up and the chain has a unhindered run?
Best wishes...
