Title: C15 SS80 rebuild . Need help with colours please
Post by: Bedfordowner on 15 Sep, 2020, 12:08
Hi All,
I have recently bought a C15 ss80 which was built in 1963. It was last on the road in 1973 and had only done 14000 miles. I bought it as a completely stripped bike so I am  working my way through it. I am currently renovating the brake hubs whilst waiting for the frame to come back from powdercoat. I have cleaned the brake plates and polished the outer edges. The centers were painted a silver colour but I don't know what paint or colour. I would appreciate it if anyone can point me in the right direction as to what paint to use and the colour I need.
I also need to consider the tank and side panel colours. The bike was a red and chrome version and so I would like to keep it to that. I have seen two reds, one looks like a flat red and the other looks more metallic. I wonder if anyone knows the correct red for an SS80 in 1963.
Thanks for your help.

The 1963 UK catalogue gives the C15SS colours as either flamboyant blue or black.

The USA model colour given as metallic red.

Thanks for letting me know about the colours. It is a UK bike but maybe it was repainted red  so will check the v5. Both colours are nice so will have a think about it. thanks again
