Hi,
I bought my C15 at the end of January this year. She'd been in storage for some years. I checked her over and when happy got her started. I found the clutch didn't function correctly and the operating mechanism was a total bodge, couldn't buy the parts so made most of them.
Next, I set about the iffy wiring and made sure it was adequate for the time being. Took her "round the block". Pulled nicely but noticed a leak from the bottom of the pushrod tube.
In early May I removed the head, decoked and reseated the valves. Bore and piston were good. Cleaned the filters and replaced the oil pipes as they were literally made from garden hose.
Over the next few months - until now, I went over her from headstock backwards, stripping, cleaning, checking and repairing everything as necessary including removing the rear wheel, oil tank, battery carrier, switch console etc. She had electronic ignition but the original rectifier. I then fitted a solid-state regulator rectifier to prevent over voltage and frying the electronic ignition and sorted the wiring out until all was sound.
Thursday, I reconnected the battery and tested the electrics. Everything worked.
Friday, I filled her up with oil, constantly checking for leaks.
Saturday, I kicked the engine over many times with the plug removed to make sure the oil was circulating. Refitted the fuel tank, tickled the carb, turned on the ignition. I was feeling for the compression part and she fired up there and then. Ran and ticked over beautifully. After a few checks all appeared well so took her "round the block". Even better than before. Returned to base and checked for oil leaks. Thankfully, all seemed fine. Left her overnight and checked again this afternoon and no drips underneath of visible leaks.
I'm looking forward to taking her out properly and getting to know her. She has an intoxicating bark
Great stuff! Well done, Rick. Phil
Thanks Phil.
Does anyone know about the tank on my bike? Is it period correct? Is it off a deluxe model or what? I can't find anything about what was on waht year etc.
Thanks
Well done. It looks great in the shiny metal and black paint scheme.
Looks far too clean and not rusty. You've done a great job, it looks superb.
Hello Blackthou,
I think you have done a good job, I also fitted an rectifier/relay on my B25 but found that after a few days, it was discharging the battery, so I fitted a main switch from the battery and only switch it on when I want to use the bike, the RR2 was from Rex speed shop, not sure why it was leaking, I just opted for a quick solution.
