Hi,
I've come to a point where I need new tyres for my 1967 B44R Victor Roadster. At the moment it has Metzeler Perfect ME77 tyres, 3.25-18 M/C 52 on the front and 3-50-18 56S on the back, the back one in particular is badly worn. But I'd prefer to get hold of an old British-brand if possible. I've looked at Dunlop K82's but there appears to be a problem on delivery with the back tyre on those (end of October at the earliest!) and Avon Seedmaster are no longer available. It's a British bike and deserves something special but I'm struggling to find a classic-type tyre for the image of the bike and wondered if anyone had any recommendations please?
Not British but Mitas tyres look the part in my opinion.
I've got the h05 on my starfire and very happy with them.
I got some Mitas for my B25. They were a fraction of the price of Dunlop and look the part. Another brand worth looking at would be Heidenau.
Thanks guys, I'll have a good look at Mitus then.
Further to my posting. I'd just like to add I've managed to get new tyres fitted now and I'm as pleased as Punch. I couldn't get Dunlop, so in the end I went for straight replacements, Metzeller Perfect ME77 on the back and Metzeller Perfect ME11 on the front. Looking at the originals they were fitted in the USA during 2003 whilst the bike was over there and not surprisingly were now giving up the ghost. What a difference these new tyres have made to the bike; it handles better, it's faster, and I can't half feel them gripping the road better. Them Yanks sometimes know what they're doing don't they. A further note, the bike passed its MOT earlier this year with an advisory the tread depth was approaching the legal limit, no mention of the year of manufacture that I now know is stamped on most tyres! Surely the MOT tester should look at the year of manufacture on the tyres and give an advisory on that also ?
Hi,
I would sat that Metzeller tyres are a good choice.
Dave.
